About this Session
This One Community Project learning session, Government Roles and Services in Lake County and Leadville, explores how local government works, how services are divided between the City and County, and how both entities fund and deliver essential programs. Hosted on November 17 as part of the Community Learning Series, the session was created in response to common community questions about “who does what” and how local decisions are made. Drawing on local examples, it walks through the structure of city and county government, revenue sources and budgeting, and the growing importance of collaboration in small, rural communities. The goal is to help residents better understand how their local governments operate, the fiscal realities they face, and how shared learning can strengthen future decision-making across Lake County and Leadville.
