After nine months of collaborative work to identify our community’s Values and Goals, the One Community Project (OCP) is moving into its next phase – action planning!
Action planning is all about turning ideas into reality. It’s time to roll up our sleeves and develop Strategies and Actions that will turn our shared Values and Goals into a plan for the future.
There will be five Action Planning Teams, each focused on one of the community’s priority areas. Together, these teams will dig into the details, collaborate, and co-create the steps and recommendations that will guide local leaders and staff in making decisions aligned with our community’s Values and Vision. Their work will help shape the draft joint comprehensive plan, which will go before the City Council and the Board of County Commissioners for adoption.
We’re inviting community members to join us in this important work by volunteering for one (or more) of OCP’s Action Teams focused on:
- Community Facilities & Services
- Economic Development
- Environment & Natural Resources
- Infrastructure & Transit
- Community Growth & Housing
Action teams are open to all community members interested in shaping the future of Leadville and Lake County. By joining an OCP Action Team, you’ll have the chance to:
- Work with other community members to ensure strategies & recommendations in the comprehensive plan reflect our shared vision and goals
- Engage in discussions about challenges, tradeoffs, and locally appropriate solutions
- Help develop and prioritize strategies
- Identify specific action steps and resources needed to make strategies happen
Time commitment and expectations include:
- 4-5 meetings (mix of in-person and virtual) between October and mid-December
- Participation in topically relevant community engagement events
- Responsibility to communicate the work of the team and champion outcomes with the community
- Shared responsibility for supporting the OCP’s process and conduct norms
