Draft 2 of Our Community Values Are Here!

Share:

The One Community Project’s draft values statements were created from input gathered over four months of community engagement, during which hundreds of Leadville and Lake County community members shared what matters most to them about life here. The second draft values statements – included below – were revised in response to the feedback we gathered throughout June and July on the first draft.

Remember, values are the shared beliefs and priorities that reflect what matters most to people in a community. Values can be somewhat aspirational – something we strive toward, even if we don’t always get it right.

Leadville locals discuss the community values at Full Circle of Lake County in June.

Leadville & Lake County Community Values (Draft 2!)

  1. Connection to Nature & the Outdoors: We value our connection to nature and our access to the mountains, water, and outdoor spaces where we adventure, spend time together, or find quiet alone. This gives us a deep appreciation of the natural world and fosters a sense of responsibility to care for it.
  2. A Real Town Built & Sustained By Hardworking People: Building a life at 10,000 feet makes us a strong and resilient community where we value hard work, authenticity, and good character over image.
  3. Nurturing Our Roots: We value the diverse backgrounds of the people, cultures, places, and traditions that shape who we are. By caring for our community and the land we call home, we build pride and stronger connections with one another.
  4. Neighbors Who Care: We value being part of a community where people know, support, and look out for one another. We appreciate living in a place where everyone has the opportunity to feel welcomed by and connected to our neighbors.
  5. Working Together: We value being a community where people roll up their sleeves and work together to solve problems. We don’t always agree, but we strive to consistently show up, listen to one another, and do the work to get things done.
  6. Our Ability to Stay Here: We value stability, opportunity, and belonging across the full arc of life here, where people can put down roots, feel involved, and thrive from childhood to old age.
